Welcome to Te Hononga

Te Hononga o Tāmaki me Hoturoa is a Māori-led charitable trust providing free, holistic healthcare services for whānau across Auckland and Counties Manukau.

Born from the merger of Te Kupenga o Hoturoa and Tāmaki Healthcare PHO, we carry forward a legacy of manaakitanga, leadership, and care for Māori and underserved communities. Today, our work reaches hundreds of whānau each year—at home, in kura, and across our communities.

We take a kaupapa Māori approach to health—combining clinical expertise with mātauranga Māori. This means we treat the whole person, not just the illness, and always put whānau at the centre. We work alongside leading providers like Starship Hospital and Counties Manukau Health to ensure tamariki and whānau get access to the right care, at the right time.

Māori-led healthcare

Te Hononga o Tāmaki me Hoturoa is a unique Māori-led NGO charitable trust that is committed to providing healthcare services that prioritize the needs of whānau. Our organization was established as a result of a merger between Te Kupenga o Hoturoa and Tāmaki Healthcare Primary Health Organisations, and our governing trust board continues to prioritize innovation in health and wellbeing.

At Te Hononga o Tāmaki me Hoturoa, we are committed to continuing our legacy of serving predominantly Māori and other ‘vulnerable’ populations. Our focus on putting whānau first sets us apart from mainstream PHOs, and our commitment to excellence in service delivery ensures that our clients receive the highest quality of care possible. We welcome all whānau to join us on this journey of healing and wellbeing.

Mana Kidz

Kia ora,

Ko Rebecca Nalder tōku ingoa.

I am a Team Leader and Registered Nurse working in the Mana Kidz Programme in primary schools in South Auckland, with a focus on Rheumatic Fever Prevention.

The Mana Kidz programme strives to improve the lives of children by providing them and their Whānau with easy access to health care.

I am also a Community Nurse Prescriber which means I can prescribe medication that Whānau would otherwise have to see a GP for.

I am passionate about equity in health care and working within vulnerable communities in an attempt to better their health outcomes.

I am married to Mark, have 3 teenagers and a dog, and I love running, reading and holidays!!
