I am a Team Leader and Registered Nurse working in the Mana Kidz Programme in primary schools in South Auckland, with a focus on Rheumatic Fever Prevention.

The Mana Kidz programme strives to improve the lives of children by providing them and their Whānau with easy access to health care.

I am also a Community Nurse Prescriber which means I can prescribe medication that Whānau would otherwise have to see a GP for.

I am passionate about equity in health care and working within vulnerable communities in an attempt to better their health outcomes.

I am married to Mark, have 3 teenagers and a dog, and I love running, reading and holidays!!

My journey in health through Hoani Waititi Marae and Te Piki Ora. Te Piki Ora under the leadership of Whaea Mate Tepu, Matua Don Rameka, Dr Pita Sharples and my mother Tuini Hakaraia, nominated me as their Community Health worker to the Area Health Board in the late 80’s.

It is also been a privilege to work alongside great leaders such as Waireti Walters and Denis Snelgar, Haki Wihongi, John Tamihere, Colin Tukuitonga, Dame Naida Glavish, Matua Brian Joyce and many others.

I hope that I have taken their words of wisdom along my journey with the West Auckland Area Health Board, Te Whānau o Waipareira Trust, Waipareira Pasifika, Auckland District Health Board and now Te Hononga o Tamaki me Hoturoa.

Our vision working with Māori is the same as it was in the late 80’s where Māori have Tino Rangatiratanga to health and wellbeing as determined for by and with Māori.

I am pleased to be able to work with a committed Board that provides a vision, and mission that wants to achieve rangatiratanga in health. I appreciate and commend the senior leaders and their dedication and professionalism as they lead their teams who believe in their work and who we can trust in their mahi with whānau.

Most importantly, we have the pleasure of working for the many whānau that reach out for our services and it is our desire that in the future you will be part of design of our health and wellbeing service.

Bula vinaka, my name is Joanna Singh.
 
I currently serve as the Executive Lead for Te Hononga o Tamaki me Hoturoa. In this capacity, I oversee all facets of human resources support and management, including the administration and implementation of HR strategies, practices, and procedures across all organizational services. As an Executive Leader, I actively promote the corporate values of Te Hononga and foster a positive workplace culture throughout the organization.
 
My expertise in human resources leadership spans over eight years, during which I have gathered extensive experience in administration and human resources management with progressively increasing responsibilities. My background encompasses executive-level management, quality management, program management, training and employee development, organizational development, and employee relations.
 
In my role as team leader, I ensure that our administration team provides effective and efficient support for other services across the organization through administrative tasks. This support enables our teams to focus more effectively on serving our high-needs population.
 
Working at Te Hononga is profoundly rewarding, as we consistently strive to address the needs of our community and deliver evidence-based, clinically-led health services with a strong emphasis on achieving quality outcomes.

I am the Team Lead for both Haumanu Ora – Covid Response/Vaccination Outreach and ManaKidz.

I have a passion for Māori health and everything Te Ao Māori entails and work as a Registered Nurse Prescriber in Primary Health & Specialty Teams.

My professional experience includes GP practise, Marae-based Hauora, and School Base-Health Services for children and rangatahi.

Our teams have the privilege of working with our community and Whānau to provide hauora Māori services that allow them to have their own rangatiratanga and determine their own health needs that work best for their Whānau.

We are a lively group of Nurses and Hauora Kaimahi, each with our own distinct flair to bring to the kaupapa!!!

Originally from Samoa, I emigrated with my parents when I was a young girl. I grew up in Porirua, Te Whanganui a Tara and now call Tamaki Makaurau my home.
 
Nursing has been my profession for many years now and I am currently  working as a Nurse Practitioner in Child health Toi Tu Kids Service (TTKS) at Te Hononga o Tamaki me Hoturoa, is a joint initiative with General Paediatricians and Starship Community, Te Whatu Ora.
Māori, Pacific and other vulnerable children are referred from Starship Community and offered a comprehensive physical and health assessment that addresses identifying and supporting these health needs in the community. As tamariki or rangatahi are part of a larger whanau, our approach is whanau-centric and we work with Paediatricians, GP’s, Social agencies, schools, government and community organisations, to deliver a plan of care that works with and for the whanau.

I am 1 of 3 Mataora here at Te Hononga o Tāmaki me Hoturoa, together we form Ue Rongo and carry the Mahi a Atua Kaupapa out into the hāpori providing therapeutic feedback informed wānanga with whānau. We feel extremely privileged to hold this space with whānau supporting them on their journey to their Te Ao Mārama (a world of life & light) in ways defined by them.

We do things a little differently bringing our own pūkenga-super powers into this space along with those of the whānau and engage in a collaborative creative process… kia whāia te hinātore!

I am the Clinical Lead for Mataora services at Te Hononga o Tāmaki me Hoturoa. Nursing is more than a profession for me — it is a calling, guided by a deep passion for Māori health, mental health, and education. My journey has taken me across acute mental health services in Tāmaki Makaurau and into tertiary education, supporting tauira at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, Waipapa Taumata Rau (University of Auckland), and Auckland University of Technology (AUT).

At the heart of my mahi is a passion for improving Māori wellbeing and striving for equitable health outcomes. My tamariki and mokopuna are my greatest drive; they remind me daily of the importance of creating pathways where whānau can thrive.

It is a privilege to walk alongside our whānau with aroha and manaaki, delivering hauora Māori services that nurture resilience, uphold tino rangatiratanga and mana motuhake, and empower whānau to determine and live their own hauora journeys in ways that honour their values, dreams, and aspirations.

Our kaimanaaki here at Te Hononga o Tāmaki me Hoturoa are a collective of passionate individuals who are supportive in delivering equitable health outcomes for all Whānau Māori.

My whanau whakapapa to Te Aupōuri, Ngāti Kahu, Ngāti Hine, Ngāti Kuri, Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Whātua Kaipara, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, Rarotonga, Manihiki, Atiu, Tahiti, Samoa, Ireland, France, and England. I am also married and have two tamariki who whakapapa to Samoa, Tonga, Tokelau and Scotland.

Prior to working as a Registered Nurse with Te Hononga O Tamaki Me Hoturoa, my professional background was in business, banking and charitable work.
As a Registered Nurse on the Oranga Ki Tua – Long Term Conditions Programme, I am privileged to work alongside, and co-lead, a fantastic and dynamic team, who are committed to serving our local communities. As holistic, evidence-based practitioners, we work to address inequities in all aspects of life, focusing on physical, spiritual, mental, social, financial, and environmental health.

My current role also includes providing strategic, organisational, and operational advice and support to the Chief Executive. This includes special project coordination for Te Ranga Ora, working alongside the Otara Whanau Medical Clinic.

It was the dream of our ancestors that we would not only live, but that we would live abundantly. It is our responsibility to set our aim high and work toward a more equitable society, where all our whanau will have the opportunity to thrive. Whāia te iti kahurangi ki te tūohu koe me he maunga teitei. Aim for the highest cloud so that if you miss it, you will hit a lofty mountain. By the way, we’re not aiming to miss!

I am a registered social worker and I lead our Manaaki-A-Hapori non-clinical team. Quality Management is my operational lead role, ensuring the maintenance of our organisational policies and procedures.

Our teams provide wraparound mobile services to the Counties Manukau and Auckland catchment areas. I also contract to Te Puna Manawa (Health West) Māori Mobile Unit, servicing the Waitemata catchment.

I have worked in the health sector for 16 years including Community Health and Child Health and I am most passionate about ensuring our governing systems use their power and resource to support all whanau in need.
