What is Whānau Resilience

Our Whānau Resilience service provides a culturally grounded, supportive wānanga space for whānau who have experienced violence at different stages of their lives.

Guided by mātauranga Māori, our kaimahi create safe spaces for healing, reflection, and reconnection. Many of our kaimahi bring lived experience in the family harm space, offering genuine empathy, understanding, and practical support.

This service focuses on strengthening identity, restoring balance, and empowering whānau to rebuild their lives in a way that supports long-term safety and resilience.

Tautoko From Whānau Support Kaimahi

Our kaimahi work alongside whānau in a person-centred, whānau-led way, helping you to set and achieve goals that support your holistic wellbeing. Together, we navigate your social, emotional, cultural, and practical needs, while ensuring you are connected to the right supports within your community.

Our goal is simple

To walk alongside whānau with compassion, advocacy, and cultural safety, restoring resilience and reducing violence for future generations.

We provide guidance and advocacy, connecting you to local community support services such as:

Whānau Resilience

Kaimahi

As a Whānau Support Worker, my role is to walk alongside whānau as they navigate their journey toward healing and resilience in the family harm space. I work in a whānau-led way, supporting their goals and advocating their needs—whether that’s building financial independence, accessing essential services, or ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

I am passionate about creating a safe, non-judgmental space for whānau to be heard, supported, and empowered. With lived experience in this space, I bring empathy, understanding, and a strong commitment to uplifting the mana of every whānau I work with. It’s a privilege to do this mahi and to support others in their journey toward safety, stability, and wairua healing.

Mana Kidz

Kia ora,

Ko Rebecca Nalder tōku ingoa.

I am a Team Leader and Registered Nurse working in the Mana Kidz Programme in primary schools in South Auckland, with a focus on Rheumatic Fever Prevention.

The Mana Kidz programme strives to improve the lives of children by providing them and their Whānau with easy access to health care.

I am also a Community Nurse Prescriber which means I can prescribe medication that Whānau would otherwise have to see a GP for.

I am passionate about equity in health care and working within vulnerable communities in an attempt to better their health outcomes.

I am married to Mark, have 3 teenagers and a dog, and I love running, reading and holidays!!
